Hi, I’m Christine.
I am an Independent Funeral Celebrant working across Sydney and the Sutherland Shire, NSW. I work with families and friends to create a beautiful, creative and meaningful funeral or memorial ceremony for their loved one.
I truly believe a ceremony should represent the person who has died and creating that space and ceremony with families and friends is what North Wind Celebrancy is about.
I believe life is a collection of chapters that become the story of our life and it is an amazing privilege for me to work with families to share the story of your loved one’s life and loves.
Family-led, celebrant assisted
We believe life is a collection of chapters that become the story of our lives. We like to work with families to listen to memories and stories to create a unique ceremony with the main focus being family involvement.
This can be done by helping to prepare a Eulogy, helping to choose music for the ceremony, sourcing unique passages and writings for the ceremony and helping to organise who will be speaking on that day.
I believe family and friend’s involvement in the ceremony is so important as you knew your loved one best.
Whether the funeral venue is a chapel, park, beach or in the family home, I am there to assist and support the family and friends in every way I can.

A funeral celebrant helps you create a funeral ceremony that best honours your loved ones life and loves. Once you have contacted a funeral celebrant and a day and time has been arranged to meet the family and or friends, usually at the family home. This meeting will help you decide if the celebrant you have chosen is the right funeral celebrant for you and your family. If everyone agrees to proceed then the planning of the funeral begins.
A funeral celebrant then sits down with you and your family maybe with a cup of tea to listen to your memories and your favourite stories of your loved one to help you create a unique and beautiful funeral ceremony.
Planning the ceremony with you the celebrant may ask the following questions:
Who will be speaking on the day? Have you chosen pall bearers? Would you like to include any cultural rituals? Do you need help choosing music or poetry for the ceremony? And do you need help writing a Eulogy? And most importantly what else they can do the help organise the ceremony with you?
It is totally up to you how involved you would like the funeral celebrant to be in the ceremony or if your prefer A Celebration of Life for your loved one. Whether the ceremony is in a chapel or a park or a beach or at the family home, the funeral celebrant is there to assist and support family and friends in every way they can.
Planning a funeral ceremony usually takes a week and includes two family meetings with the celebrant to confirm details and any changes that need to be made.
I think the important thing is not to feel rushed or hurried during the funeral ceremony so again during the planning of the funeral the funeral celebrant will help you co-ordinate who will be speaking on the day and who else would like to be included in some way.

A funeral service is typically 40 minutes to 1 hour but some ceremonies may go longer, it all depends what you would like included in the funeral service. Once you have chosen a venue you will be offered approximate times to choose from and arranging the funeral with your funeral celebrant will give you an idea of how much time you need for a person or people to give a Eulogy.
